In Irons (Impromptu Poem)
Sep. 17th, 2007 02:01 pmI can fell several breezes blowing
And I need movement whereever I'm going
But no course can I set, it all feels so strange
It's hard to change in the face of unknown change--

Notes from M/C
Sep. 16th, 2007 08:23 amPerfect day--blue skies, gentle breeze, not too hot, green grass.

Cynaquans won easily. Mists were neither organized enough nor hanging tough enough. Angels are pretty much unstoppable if you don't meet them with superior numbers and organization.
*********************
Had some pike fu, needed more command fu. Had some, but not enough. Ursus lance worked well, but needs to train together.
**********************
I'm a lot less sore than I thought I would be; I'm not in as horrible shape as I feared. Doesn't mean I should skip the gym.

Next, great western!

Cycle of lessons: 5
Sep. 12th, 2007 03:30 pm1. Theme for this next week: Clean your room and don't talk back to your mother!
2. Beer can chicken works fine with a diet coke can full of water. The smell of chicken soup is almost as good as the soup itself.
3. If I'm not employed, where the heck is all the time going? Little computer things eat time fast.
4. Hidden Villa has some killer looking classes--making cheese, toddlers playing with cows, going mushrooming. Signing up now!
5. If you want to do something that depends on things in your room, don't assume the person living there is on any sort of rational schedule, because he isn't.
That's all for now.

I don't want to grow up to be like that.
Sep. 4th, 2007 06:44 pmHey guys, thanks for the positive vibes. I'll be re-engaging with various social contacts slowly; this is a big disruption on many levels, and an amazing time and energy sink. I'll also be looking to travel a lot more.
Dad is in, trying to change the whole house over into his image, and extremely intellectually negative all the time. I need to get a schedule together that gets me out of the house a significant part of the time, because listening to him will drive me crazy with anger fairly quickly. And I don't think it's just me (or rather, the facts of our previous relationships), he's just very very negative.
But the temperature has cooled off, the tomatoes are still producing, the sink has been fixed, and I'm moving forward with contracts. I need to get daily workouts worked in and spend less time on the computer, wonderful tool and even better time waster that it is.
Hey, perhaps this will allow me to generate interest in pounding the pell more!

That's the thing to remember. Dad and Kurt arrived safe at 7:30; Dad's set up in my room--artwork up, toiletries out, shoes in closet. I'm about to set up his computer and then retire to the laundry/ex garage/college student room and further sort and throw stuff away.

The situation is devolving.
Aug. 29th, 2007 08:54 amNew storm forming off of South America (Tropical Depression I, or something.) Dad's health is very uncertain in minor ways; he's not sleeping or eating on any sane schedule. Rather than start the medical process down here, the decision as of this morning is to get him to California, out of the heat/humidity of south Texas, and into clinics where we can support him.
Based on his wishes, he'll be moving in with me. Kurt and I will load the car, build the hurricane screens for the windows, get the car fixed (air conditioning is a necessity not an option here) then I'll grab a flight out of Corpus Christi, get home, rearrange the garage for his stuff, move out of my room into my back room, and get the house set up for him.
Then, go get a job so I can pay off all of this.
Gonna be busy. And...I'm not going to make as many social things for quite a while.
The situation is still evolving.

Some Moments...
Aug. 25th, 2007 12:28 amEating at Domo: http://www.domorestaurant.com/ and it was big fun. Ky, Jeannie, Dave, Zane, and ...um...???.
Scrabble Second team, gender not sex.
RUnning through the Durham airport, hearing the call for passengers, holding two bags and my pants up. COmputer starts to fall, grab it...lose the pants.
Sitting in the Sumo row in the DUR/DEN flight: three guys my size.
Angry Angel Beer. Not bad.
Doing class diagrams on Chili's St. Jude donation paper.
Talks with Dad.
Some moments, more later.

Shucky Darns (2).
Aug. 23rd, 2007 08:56 pmDarn it darn it darn it. Flights are pretty snafu through the midwest due to the weather. ANd me? I didn't plan on the fact that we would have a debrief at the end of class (which we will end early) and the boss is saying the pack down takes about an hour.
Not with me on the cables, buckuwheatudes! I'll have that pack down done in 15 minutes, MAX, unless...we have to troubleshoot. Odds? No idea.
So...relax, plan for the worst, attack things with energy. Pack and plan now....12:30.
Shucky shucky darn.

On the road again...
Aug. 19th, 2007 08:44 pmfor an undetermined period of time. Getting certified in a class in RTP right now, then off to Texas to help my Dad in an undetermined way. Travel all messed up, but still very pleasant. I'll be intermittantly email available, fully phone available (when not in/teaching class) and not home until I get there.
The good: I love to travel. I really, really like to do it. Even when flights fuck up etc. Yay for iPods!
The bad: Gonna miss some cool events and commitments, but family comes first. Hopefully I'll make it back in time for Bardic, but at the current rate, probably not back until the week after. Erinwood is gone, so is my Bardic Feast.
Have fun: at Burning Man, at Shakespear shows, at dance camps, at all those great things. See you there sometime again!

I hate UPS.
Aug. 17th, 2007 10:58 pmThe call center and the local package sorter are insisting they tell me their business policies rather than give me my laptop. I've been trying to get it since 2 this afternoon. But they're closed on the weekends (hmm, what about Saturday Delivery? Nope, must be paid in advance.) Now beginning to work my way up the supervisor chain. Don't anticipate an satisfaction in this one.
I'm thinking that as a policy I'll avoid UPS like the plague from now on.
