http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?file=/c/a/2003/09/01/MN19444.DTLIt's fading away. The concerns and cares and catchtraps of home are welling up and washing the mental playadust off of me. Still, I hope I've taken some of the better things into me to keep, realizing that it's a spiral and I'll need to learn them again.
Surprise last night--discovered that two of my brothers, for different reasons, wanted to go. Wow. Now that would be very very cool. I'll provide the camp infrastructure, L** can do the tech infrastructure, K can do the connection and vehicle infrastructure...we're an amazing team of builders and doers and dreamers, and thinking of this in light of the experience, it would be AMAZING. K even thought of coming out this year...now that would have been interesting. We could have set up a skywatch station, explored the technoedge, converted a vehicle into an Art Car--heck, I'll donate the van for that. Try putting up solar and wind power, play with electricity and static, experience art together.
Now here's an odd thought. What fun could I have if I made a space for my father to be here? There was a spiritual/shamanistic/religious edge that he would have absolutely loved, and a danger/tech edge that he would have enjoyed as well. What fun could he have? What fun could we have? I don't think it's likely to happen...but...
ARCHETYPES
One of the things that's fading is my memory of people in the camp. When first met, I wasn't in a state to really see them, but before leaving they resolved into interesting archetypes. Spirit beings can change everything about their image but their eyes, yes?
[side note: went out to rummage in the vehicle and get a Clif bar, and discovered a line of dog dropping on the sidewalk, exactly in the path I would walk to the car. Cleaned them up and put them in the trashcan (MOOP!) and looked and saw far down at the end of the block someone walking a dog. As I unloaded the car, he came back the other way. He had two dogs, a very young basset and a ??, so I said Hi, he said Hi, I said what kind of dog is that, it's a chubby corgi, the dogs said hi, hi, hi...the dogs are his niece's, he's taking care of them only this weekend, can he have a few lemons...the feeling that I wanted to yell at him for letting the dogs poop anywhere, he probably never saw it and how are the dogs supposed to know? So now I know a neighbor a little better.]

Ahem. ARCHETYPES Names changed.
V**** is a forest shaman. He can bring many spirits together, drum, call up visions, but is not completely at home on the treeless playa. Still, anything growing up out of the earth he's good at (shade and shower structures) and all elements, too. The trickster part is there as well as the wise support. So much fit in to a man only Four Foot 30 tall!
C***** is a forest sprite, perhaps. She evoked best for me one of the Disney Fantasia mushrooms, in her slanted cap and happy movements. Again, I think the playa is a little too far from the trees for her.
A***** is an Earth Mother, but I'm not completely sure from where. She is a doula, something I want to find out more about. She had both loving care and force energy to build the camp and make it work, and introduced me to the concept of a kitty. With the blue in her hair and the associations with birth, I think she's a seashore earth Mother.
J***** is a bard of the musical style. Colored for fire (but I never saw him dance with it) his main expression was through music, and he did it well. Not making a big statement, but when he sat down and noodled on his mandolin, and I commented on it, he told me it was the instrument he knew the least.
M*** is an avatar of Thesius, the clever one. He knows both how to make things, and how to challenge other warriors, and is friend to warriors, and a leader by verbal example. Like me, he delights in small facts and mental musings. His journey in the playa was a quest with objectives--to see the sun every morning through the night, to make light for music, to connect with things.
A****** I didn't really get a feel for.
B**** is a Priestess, probably Air. She showed up declaring that she was not bound, then immediately set up a space for image changes--the costume tent--then went off and set up altars in other places.
Almost lost this, sign that it's time to finish. Oc*****: Another Warrior. Fire clan, I think. R**: Earth strong...and they've faded...
N***: Star Captain, guidance best at dawn or dusk or on the edges of confusion.
