Prayer for Endarkenment 1.0

Oh Lord of Light, I pray for darkness.
Not of the spirit, for it is despair that I seek to avoid.
Not of the night, for that is given every day.
Not in the day, although bless the rain and weather that we receive.

Oh Lord, let not my eyes be dazzled with the brightness of either the Sun or the lights man has made.
Let me stand in the dark, so that my pupils open, and I can see the fainter lights all around me.
Let me close my eyes and see with my skin, remembering that I have my own darkness.
Give me strength to break habits that call for light, for sight, and remember that sound, and touch, and smell, and taste are all your senses as well.

Let the saints I know intercede for me, St. Teresa, who cried out but continued down the road, walking in darkness and enjoying the humor of it;
St. Siobhan, who brought the darkness into her music,
Senkyu-sama, who pointed out the dark.

Give me the understanding to accept the darkness within me.

Let me open to the miracles of every day, and the rising of the sun, and the colors of sunset, the coming of the dark.

Amen.

Prayer for Enlightenment
O Holy Ghost, divine Spirit of light and love, I consecrate to Thee my understanding, my heart and my will, my whole being for time and for eternity. May my understanding be always obedient to Thy heavenly inspirations and the teachings of the holy Catholic Church, of which Thou art the infallible Guide; may my heart be ever inflamed with love of God and of my neighbor; may my will be ever conformed to the divine will, and may my whole life be a faithful following of the life and virtues of Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, to whom with the Father and Thee be honor and glory for ever. Amen.
