You folks in the south bay as so lucky! It seems like all the good stuff happens where you are. I've never felt that much draw to San Francisco in the past 20 years, but I sure feel a draw to San Jose. I've never heard of the Maker's Fair, but it sure should like fun. And so many good SCA things are in your area. I wish I lived there!
