The Parting Glass

I'm a lucky man. I have many friends of excellent quality. Some have gone from here, and there's many I have yet to meet and make friends.

Sometimes I look forward, and sometimes I look back, and sometimes I just look around. Better than looking down all the time. Right now lots of family stuff is washing around, and changes in the air--nothing real yet--and other changes desired or not. Persevering is the main key.

Speaking of in-key friends, one who'se gone I've been reminded of the last three weekends--first by dancing at a venue she used to play at with a relative of hers, then by meeting a young fun fiddler who had a slight air of hers (she's really very different, in many ways, but there was a sparkle in her eye) and finally by some foodie moments recently, related to motorcycle riding. Really, it's amazing that Leigh Ann hasn't been in my mind more. She was a catalyst for me to many adventures and art, and I was an inspiration to her and a doorway to a degree.

But anyway, some of her music's back on the web. Go check it out, it's fun:

I'm going to go raise a parting glass to her right now--right after I finish this new salsa recipe I'm testing, and check for tire prices for the bike.

If I had another penny,

I would have another gill;
I would have the piper play
the Bonny Lass of Byker's Hill.

(No, that's not the original lyrics, yes, I'm free form thinking of her, yes, I'm a cheap drunk these days, ye, I need to get out and sing, drunkenly. Wheee!)

Heh! Do get out and sing, drunkenly or not.

I was reminded recently of the time near Xmas that you, me, Rustmon and LeighAnn went to GG Park, did museums, then rented a boat on that little lake, and you three found the acoustics under the bridges to be so excellent. It was magical.
