Ok, I'm back, sort of.

Last week was social organization fu, and it worked, although I didn't devote enough time to any one thing, and so they all didn't go as well as I'd like, but it reinforces that I have very high standards. It was great to see people, and make it to the beach, and play in the pool, and do bardic. But next time more lead time on the invites, and more prep!

Haven't done anything physical in like 2 weeks except for the swim; working out tomorrow, then Purg, then Burning Man--hope to be on track. There's now an excellent yoga place in Mountain View that a bunch of the fighters who are getting in shape are going to, I'll check it out when I return.

Life is good. Much travelling soon.

gizbot, hold more parties. riolent, good work. selkiediver, you're hot. Maestrateresa, you too! And, we don't spend enough time together, you know who you are.

I'll have a free week in europe. What MUST I do?

Mont St. Michel

We ended up wandering around in the early morning; when the shops are all closed up it seems very medieval. Somehow the florescent baseball cap displays on the sidewalk take away from that historical sense.

At night when it's dark, after a fabulous dinner (Madame Poullards is one of France's top restaurants), Mt. St. Michel is a magical place. This is why I recommend spending the money on dinner and a hotel room. Had we not met the "ghost of Chartes," (an elderly gentleman who would randomly appear and disappear to give us pertinent information while we were in Chartres) we might not have discovered this.

I don't recall any florescent baseball cap displays, however, I do recall having to watch out a little for the bats that inhabit the island. They add to the impression that the island is haunted.

**Note: Madame Poullards is more affordable if you get the special which, when I was there, was posted on a sign outside the restaurant. At that time, the special included some kind of soup or salad, the restaurant's signature dish, and dessert & coffee for two.
