Sarcastic Bastard Mode
I think it's been the most recent LJ's I've been reading, and not reading. If I've left you a sarcastic update that you find stupid and hurtful, I apologize.
Don't know what it is today. Something about being in Washington DC, being hit up for change both of coins and political (Having LaRouch stump for Kerry is surreal. It feels like a dirty trick!) Something about running out of clothes, perhaps (just did laundry so that's fixed, no dirty trick there.)
So, the idea in my head is that I may do the NaNoMo--haven't fully decided. Using stickjock logic, 50K words: If I write 4 hours per day, and I produce about 20 wpm, with breaks, that's about 1000 words an hour, about 4K per day, and the novel will be done in 13 days. Since I'm not currently in school, or working seriously, I could make the time.
...and it would be good to improve my pounding out words. I'm investigating various history of Technology/science programs, looking to enroll towards a P.h.D. program. Haven't found a perfect one yet; one of the realities is that most of these programs are not on the US West coast. But I might make it to England.
And my novel expectations are low. Writing seems to me to be difficult work, triggering all my fears about not being creative enough, and also about not being able to release the work. That is, the perfectionism will force rewrites, and thus at the end I'll have about 1,000 words--perfectedly polished. I can just see myself there with the sentence "He was up to his vestigal gills in axolotls when the witchtree shattered all its bottles and as the heavy metal rockers hit the throttles he knew bad luck came from listening to ex-girlfriend "ought"-els." And worrying about the punctuation.
Or the fact that much of my prose becomes poesy.
History professor. Alternatively, engineering professor, but that's really not as much fun. I could work on network theory, but the advances in that field are now very small increments. I think I'll go talk to GIZBOT. And SelkieDIver. And MaestraT...hey, why am I collecting people in school?
History professor/teacher, and working by night at a smart "dust" network startup. Need to sit down and write a larger "Do not do" list. Or, find a rich widow to marry, as Porthos did. Or perhaps about 4 non-rich widows, but that's too much work...
