Say a prayer.
There's a state of the world that I once called "Boffism" and now I'm not sure what the term would be. Certainly not irony, although some singers would claim that. More like "the world keeps turning and happening to you all mixed together."
One thing I judge positive about Barack Obama, president-elect. The quote, from a news service:
"Obama planned to stay home through the weekend, with a blackout on news announcements so that he and his staff can get some rest after a grueling campaign and the rush of their win Tuesday night. He is planning a trip to Hawaii in December to get away with his family before their move to the White House — and to honor his grandmother, who died Sunday at her home there."
I didn't see or hear about this at all before the election itself, that Madelyn Dunham had died. She missed seeing her son elected by three days, although I'm sure she knows, just not here and now. There's a good article on her at San Francisco Chronicle:

Good on you, Madelyn. Bomber maker, war wife, strong grandmother, bank VP come up from the ranks, you raised your children in the finest American traditions and exhibited them yourself.
Thank you.

Time Capsule: Hopes and Fears
It's a brand new day, and the sun is high.
Here's a thought. It's a historic moment; Obama is the president elect. What do you hope will happen? What do you fear may occur? If you put it in your blog now, you will be able to look back on it and remember how you felt, and what life was like today.

You know that Louisina Railroad is the one I wanna ride...
Go Cathyn and Goatface!
Go Lowell George! Punched my ticket, porter took my name, couldn't pay him nothin' so he started to complain'. ...well, that Louisiana railroad, never run on time...
Can't stand the rain, runnin' down my window. Bringin' back sweet memories...
Is it time for Dixie Chicken? Is this the theme to promote? Who cares!
Need a dancing Icon.

Rain is cool.
Rainy California day is even cooler with Lloyd George on the boombox.
The man was a genius. I'm going to go light a candle to him.
I need more to do. More structure. Needz a job, dangit.
lacking the job, adventure. Adventure! Barring a trip to Reno, nothing on the horizon. Time to get up and go, ya know?
Nomad or Go Mad, yeah.
Back to cleaning, planning, and Nanowrimo. I was told Nanowrimo's passe'. Who cares? I don't do it for the coolness of it, I do it for the joy, the pain, the eventual accomplishment. I haven't churned out many words, but my plot ninja are strong this year.

Seasonal Haiku
Well, OK< not really Haiku
The warm rain lingers
lightly, with city lit clouds
Where is Cathyn?
Tug has a laser
Made me gears cardboard and wood
Pine smoke in the fall
Mist on the asphalt
fog cloaking the streetlamps and lights
Motorcycle garaged.
Pumpkin, tomatoes
Corn, zucchini, warty gourd
Good garden this year.
All Hallow's Eve now.
Nanowrimo, Steampunk con
Busy busy time
(Note: Cathyn and I are theoretically logging our walks...so I'm walking in the rain to Cathyn. Theoretically. Tug really does have a cool cool laser. The brakes aren't fixed on the bike yet. I'm cooking produce from the garden, and trying to preserve it as well. And for not being employed, it's certainly busy!)

Busy Wednesday.
1. Volunteered at Hidden Villa. Weeded carrots. Saw olives being brined; will go back and see if I can get a bucket for certain people. Want to stay at the Hostel there. Hmm. Perhaps I can volunteer...
2. Didn't work on bike. ooops.
3. Did start corn salsa, and tomato sauce.
4. Did apply to be a sub, that'll get the money coming in again.
5. had a long talk with MA. Apparently I'm a "Fag-loving gun-snatching baby-killer" because I prefer the Democratic presidential candidates to the republican ones. Wow. So,
6. Went up to Castro Street SF with a semi-native guide, via Bart and Muni. While there, decided to catch the live "War of the Worlds" stage broadcast, very fun. Many well-dressed people there. Bailed out, picked up a "Pissed Off Voter Guide", which rates propositions with a range from "Hell Yes!" to "Yes" to No to "Sad No" to Hell No! to ...you get the idea. But it's a very clear guide as to why on the other side...best political paper I've seen yet, even if I disagree with it on points.
7. Ate at the Sausage factory.
Need more adventures. Oh, and Memeage:
I do care who marries whom, or vice versa, but only in that it is a well considered union. If it is, I am pleased to be able to officiate. IF it isn't, I would not. And that's my involvement with that subject.
Oh, and it's truely cool to know someone having the start of their 15 minutes of fame. Now the question is, what will they do with it?

I'm a BItter American
I like guns. I think we need to present a strong posture to the world to keep peace. I have strong views about religion, and am a minister. I believe in truth, justice, and the American Way.
I'm voting for Obama, a man with Irish roots, raised by his grandmother, a churchgoing man who works out, and works with people--provably in his history--who has a voting history I appreciate, and a list of actions I would wish to emulate. Is he a politician? Sure. Only politicians get that far. But I can think for myself and judge for myself, and refuse to vote based on the race or gender of the candidates.
I am something of a single issue voter, and if you talk to me (in person) it's very clear what that issue is. As for the rest, trickle down doesn't, the deregulation of industries by politicians funded by those industries sucks, and I'm tired of the wealth re-distribution being always up.
Yes, I'm a bitter voter.
(This is in response to a posting by koga, again.)

3 numbers
Good; Bad; New Start.
Good: 357. Magnum, baby! Weight as of this morning. Also good: 12 more miles added to the long walk to hug Cathyn (he's probably in Kansas already.)
Bad: Income this month, 0. Job apps applied: 14, responses 0. Going to have to sub to get some cash in. It's only temporary.*
New Start: NaNoWriMo, Go! 0 words so far. This year...an Armistead Maupin sort of novel; the times are ripe for it, and it's a good combination of serious and silly, of snark and sincere.
It was the best of times, it was the worst of times...it was lunchtime.
Upcoming Weekend: Haunted House, Nano start, dissemble house, Bal de Vampyre, help X. at church, busy busy!
*Wasn't this a mantra from last year?

Death Star in San Francisco
This is for MBFUN and the SF gang--hey Risa, you too. Why didn't you tell me it was IMPERIAL fleet week?
http://current.com/items/89204971_death_star_over_san_francisco
(Found as an example on Kevin Kelly's "Conceptual Trends" blog http://www.kk.org/ct2/ ) but it has Coit Tower, protests, the parrots, Angel Island...very SF.

Hibernate time.
When you see this, post your favorite Fifth Element quote in your LJ.
"Aziz, LIGHT!"
"Thank you."
Time to clean out the lair, curl up around the honeyed proteins, eat some salmon, then sleeeeeeeeeeeeeep.
Alternatively, time to do all of that, get up before dawn, watch the meteors, drink sake to the moon, recite poetry to sexy women and stalwart men (different poems!) explore yoga, travel to hot tubs...
If you want some poetry read to you, leave a comment. They're screened, incase you're a closet poetry lover (along the tingling tangling hangers/between the wool of winter and summer linen/we're hiding in the closet bangers/but it's hard to keep the sounds so hidden)** but more importantly so you can leave your phone number if I don't have it.
If you want to hibernate, well, first the cleaning, and that's going to take a while. Unless I pile everything in one pile and then sleeeeeep on it.
Oh, and: STOLEN FROM LJ USER
koga Is it not nifty?
**Just wrote that, because I can't think of ANY closet poetry!

Sleep is good.
Three nights of full sleep. I feel like a completely different person. Who doesn't get enough done and needs a shower, but I am on vacation at a friend's working on projects (de-blackberry the yard, trim the shrubbery, get the attic storage areas set up, help transplant plants, build an outside tools storage space...play too much Zuma, watch Boston Legal, learn Settlers of Catan card game, clean out the van) to varying degrees of success.

Tell me why..
I don't like Mondays. Bah! Forget it! Tuesday, OTOH,
1. Helped a friend go to SF and get to Superior Traffic court. Got to stop in at SF BMW, determine they don't stock stainless steel braided brake lines, bought a book on motoing, grabbed coffee, and friend was out of there in under 2 hours everthing solved. (We took the train.) Walked over and showed her "Defenestration", talked about life, ended up eating fried squidbits and a perfect burger and pommes at Annibel's Bistro http://www.annabelles.net/ over near SF Moma (and that big theater.) Road the train home, went and groused at BMW Mountain View, and...
2. THey ordered me the brake lines (after leaving me on hold forever). Should be in by Thursday, no restocking fee if I don't want them. They're working to make it right. (I'm going to buy them) and...
3. Took a NAP. "When you're cranky, take a nap." Duchess Berengaria (of the Outland's) rule for Theophilii.
4. Got a new trashcan. Everyone did. So shiny!
5. The Captain convinced my cuz to come visit! W00t!
And now, more whacking at motorcycle seat rehopolstery, and then sleeeeeeeep. Need to get a workout in, but the 3 miles in the City doesn't suck.
