Estrella!

Mud, Food, Blood...

The weather could have been horrible. I've been there then over half the camp was knocked down. But we're in better tents, and the storm was mild in comparison. The desert was vivid; red soil and green plants and no dust and blue and white sky. The mud did not turn into flood, but the broken field did wash out.

Others have reviewed the fighting. I spent the first day chasing people to hit, and avoided the long rez battles of the next two days.

Food: Oh wow. Tigershark eats like Kings, or at least Spanish Grandees. Warm food at any meal. Chicken Parmesan. Breakfast scrambles with exotic spices. Wow! And Ky arranged a sushi night on Friday, yum.

All of the ladies I was there with had some emotional issues, and also followed the moonphase of the alpha female. I spent Friday night giving backrubs which was fun.

.........

It was very good to see so many people I don't get to see enough of, but I didn't spend enough time with them. New people I met were cool, but I didn't have a lot of energy. Some (but very few) old stories emerged.

.........

J, the Ky murder didn't happen; we had a peaceful drive home. We pulled out at about 6 and made it to her digs around midnight. In retrospect, of course she was difficult; she was dealing with an interesting emotional load of exes etc.

..............
It's hard, not being part of a war unit. I miss my shield brethren.

..............
It's time to get a pavilion and basic camp together, so I can camp with friends in my own tent.

..................
Knee good. Weight no action. All three vehicles have dead batteries; replaced van, recharging out of car the BMW, and replacing the bikes's tomorrow.

.................
Other news as it arrives, although a lot is happening.

I should have remembered you'd go to Estrella. Several Pennsics ago one of my apprentices' quest items was finding you, but they didn't succeed because they were flat out and you (to quote someone at the West Kingdom gate) are a force of nature. You didn't happen to meet up with the Queen of the East, did you? Then one of them would have finished that quest finally.

He's a social ... bee. Not a butterfly, but a bee. He inspires people to do this thing or that thing, and he does things himself, but you can't pin him down without killing him. So it's not too surprising that the quest was unsuccessful.

They used to get several items for each quest - some involved learning a skill, some finding knowledge and some finding people. Finding people at Pennsic was always the hardest one, but I figured that the process of trying to find the person at Pennsic was an experience in and of itself. Haven't sent them on one in several years, though, since they grew up.

They still remember the items they didn't find though.....

Indeed, a good time was had by all. Just joined LiveJournal this week and am finding many I know just by wandering through friends' journals. Thanks as always for good conversation and a bit of music.
