More Motorcycling!

Less Oatmeal!

Three things today: Books, Bikes, and Zyppers

Books: Tales of the Otori Across the Nightingale Floor by Lian Hearn
(First of three--filed in Young Adult.) Fun.

Choke, by Chuck Palahnuik

Bikes.
Rode to Monterey. Tried to follow Tug's directions; failed on the way down in finding the route, so just did 101. On the way back, failed again (in Freedom/Corralitos). No big loss; good roads (not great) (but a not great road here; flowers, mixes of pine and redwood and eucalyptus, interesting geology) (and I'll find the roads later.) WInds were high by the coast. Perhaps something fun for 4/20?

Zyppers: Too cool!

ooh. [livejournal.com profile] d3l1r1um and I are taking our riding courses in May to get our licenses, though we'll be putting off buying a starter bike (you know, the kind you can drop and not cry about) until the end of the year. That'll also give us time to save up for a full set of good leathers and a good helmet.

Not planning to commute with it, but it'll be nice to tool around on. I swear, we're one of the few people we know who don't ride.

Yay! More motorcyclists! Whee! When you get gear, though rethink the leather. Depending on the kind of riding you are going to do, it may or may not be the best bet. Like, if you're going to race, then go for it! If not, then consider a good textile suit for comfort and versatility. [livejournal.com profile] learnteach could have some good input on this.

Mmm. Riding to Monterey. What roads were you trying to find? So many fabulous roads down that way! Glad you had fun finding your own way! (:
