They be wed, off to bed.
I've been stressed out for a while by this wedding, and it went off perfectly (from my limited viewpoint.) Yay!
My viewpoint was only limited because the wedding was so HUGE. 3 days at a resort with meditation area, spiral, mineral outcroppings and springs, and a 8 by 15 by 4 hot tub. Camping area, and pavilion camping area, cabins, etc.
I was the speaky guy for the actual ceremony. In other places this might be the officiant, but everyone but the bride and groom in the wedding party is a minister, and the bride and groom married themselves to each other.
The banners looked great. The scotch tasting had tasty scotch. The people were all fascinating, ranging from the marketing entrepeneur cousin from Lithuania to the NASA scientests to the amazing women wives of the bride to the high school friend to the families to the woman from East Germany to the tall, tall cousin of the groom...wow.
The wine and cheese was excellent. We gathered up, Oniongirl started playing music, the greeters started greeting, and off we went...
And now it's a blur, but the words went well, and the timeing was good, and then I was gifted with a drink (Hello! My name is MISCHIEF,
And I am an Aphrodisiac. While I am non-alcoholic, I do contgain high levels of wormwood and DAMIANA which may cause mild "happy-brain" if you drink enough. I AM _NOT_ Suitable for children.) Well, I had 6 glasses (36 ounces.) Didn't rip anyone's clothes off (well, ok, my own but only to climb into the hot tub) but I woke up this morning with NO ALLERGY SYMPTOMS. The stuff is a systemic cleanser of toxins from the liver. WOOO! Have an appointment to get a recipie for a modified version.
During the dancing after the banquet after the wedding danced then stretched, realized I couldn't find my lower back. It's so stiff I've been compensating for it completely for at least a week. Hmm. Ok, time for floor work.
Many, many cool things happened, some of which I will share here later. But here are the words of the bewed beloveds on the subject of Marraige and Wedding:
A marriage is the experience of a relationship over a lifetime, of learning to
live together and supporting each other through change, and hardship, and joy
and laughter, and hard work.
A wedding is a celebration of what is. Standing here and saying words and
exchanging rings does not weld two hearts together. There is no magic that
will bring commitment and acceptance of each other into your hearts. Rather,
in order to be standing here today, these two are already married in their
hearts. They have opened their hearts fully to each other, exposing their
inner most fragile soul. The vows they make today have already been made
between them a thousand times over. And the strength and commitment to these
vows have been tested and pushed until trust formed, knowing these vows and
bonds of love would be able to hold them together through any storm the seas of
the future hold for them. Their relationship itself is a continuum; it
is an on going dance of joy and discovery that occurs day by day.
The Wedding
is a ritual tool, which is used to mark a moment in this on going dance.
Their hearts are already Married, and the Wedding is a chance to celebrate
and mark this fact.
A wedding is also a gathering of diverse communities that share a
common thread.

Happiness and glow-y feelings for new bride and groom.

I was so full of everything this weekend that I didn't even notice this until I read it here in your journal, and realized I had the same experience (on one glass of the stuff, but I'm a lightweight).
I may have to tap you for the recipe after you've gotten it.
Beautiful job doing the bits you did. You shone. I can see that it would have been difficult not to shine for that gathering, but I love seeing you like that. (And happy belated birthday, while I'm remembering.)
