Sur Real

Surreal: a term applied to a film, signifying a distorted or fantastic dream state, a nightmarish or hallucinogenic world, or a subconscious thought or death experience; often expressed by a random, non-sequential juxtaposition of images that go beyond realism. Examples: the eerie Salvador Dali dream sequence in Hitchcock's Spellbound (1945), and David Lynch's Eraserhead (1977)

Surreal: Watching a 4 story 3 faced clock all night (clockwork, monkeys, wind) and talking to many people about it, then watching someone (this happened twice) with no understanding try to climb inside (wow! what...bravery?). THEN watching the clock creater climb inside--I think he was the Monkey God at that moment.

Surreal: Spending a week in harsh desert conditions, then coming out to learn about the devastation on the Gulf Coast. And knowing that the media isn't telling us much about the reality; the reality is too big. But glad I don't live there. I'm glad the French Quarter survived...

Surreal: Going to Burning Man with Danish Ravers. Great People, but even walking the same paths and staying in the same camp we had COMPLETELY different experiences.

Surreal: Coming back to find that traffic ticket is now $1000 and they're going to suspend my license. Thank you, Mr. Kafka. Off to fix this!

Surreal: Sunrise over the desert. It is very strange and dreamy.
