Guilty Pleasures:
Um. After listening to d_mon_chick and GeoffyMatt, I've decided to not have regrets, and have shed most of my guilt. Certainly, all of it associated with pleasures (that I would put on a public journal.) There's some shameful pleasures, I guess they'll just have to do.
1. Sweets and/or inappropriate comfort food, like Velveeta and Miracle Whip sandwiches. Mmmm.
2. Watching women. But I'm not that bad at it, so I don't feel guilty. Sometimes I feel like a dirty old man though--LadyKalessa had on a wonderful gown for Titanic, but yep, her whole sternum was showing. Not that much extra cleavage, just...wider, freer. Then again, she signed up for the 12 Babes of Christmas, so it's not a hidden thing with her. Hey, while I'm in confession mode, mad_duchess at 12th night's Mickey, as well as the smile she showed it with. The look in ysabella's eye when I figured out she had hooked up--heck, that woman's damn smart! Smooth, too. I could go on and on and on...
3. Winning. I need to get over the shame on this one. Like tonight, where I hit GS in the head hard enough to knock him down. Woo! Of course, it's a short lived victory when you do it over and over and over.
4. Re-reading books. Again, not too shameful, but ya know, when you've memorized all of Pratchett's works, perhaps you need to find another author.
5. Snarkyness. It's fun. But I should strive for wit more!
Second part of post: Fighter practice. Fremont site, very nice, good light, parking, ground. Slowwork polearm with Baccus and Derick (sp!), full speed with GS and Baccus, working pole and sword and just pole. Dreadfully out of practice, but improving. Worked Baccus on straight response drills (block and fire). Blew right elbow strap at 10?15, about 2 hours of fighting. Need to put left spaulder back on, and work crossblock. More pushups!

Ah darling--watching the opposite sex on the sly is one of the great joys in life...I do it WAY more than any of the men around me are ever even aware of. I mean, to me, that is part of what makes the SCA, for instance, much more fun. All the dude (in my case) watching opportunities...

Ever spent a day in a coffee shop? Let me tell you, Working in Los Gatos has killed me in SO many ways just watching women, and remembering to breath.
Oh, and trying not to step on my toung, it makes it rather hard to get the coffee order right.

Just remember the formula (as clearly spelled out by the Butthole Surfers in one of their 80s classics):
"It's better to regret things you HAVE done than things you HAVEN'T"
Pleasure does not require guilt and it is much better if you do not equate them at all. Just let yourself experience joy. Doing things that hurt other people or yourself go with guilt. Luckily for all of us, there is the lovely healing power of apology and atonement.
Admiring women is not a bad thing and so should not facilitate guilt. Making them feel uncomfortable or bad as a result of your admiration should cause guilt. But you are always the gentleman and you make people feel better about themselves and so there should be absolutely no guilt involved at all.
In fact, I would say your guilty pleasures 1 through 4 should be guilt free (as long as they are exercised with moderation...another great adage "everything in moderation, even moderation"). So enjoy! But snarkyness probably should come with guilt.
Watching women
I was going to write the garb off on its first outing, but your comment made it an old faithful that I wear almost as often as my Vikings.
I always think of that whenever someone tells me that they couldn't wear early period cos it looks like a sack.
PLEASE, keep looking JT! You have made more than me feel special by those serruptitious looks.
