The last time I saw

Halima (lynn Meyer) was at Rusty and Sarah's California reception. The last time I saw Siobhan (Leigh Ann Hussey) was at the same reception.
NO ONE ELSE, OK?
I wouldn't have seen them if we hadn't had the reception. It was good to see Siobhan, been a while.
I'm honestly pretty sure we didn't actually complete the Iron Butt 1000 by the rules. She was. But it was an epic journey, as was riding out to the Susan G. Komen pony express run in the Midwest on our bikes. As was the run we planned, then rain cancelled. She got me into motorcycling by trading Elghaz for two weeks of yard work--the motorcycle parking space I put at the front of her house is still there, last I dropped by and looked. She was in my vanity band "Paying for your sins" which she preferred to be "Pain for your Sins".
Once I told her that as a musician, she danced like a white girl. A year later we danced, and she had taken Tai Chi. I told her she danced like a warrior that day. Leigh Ann insisted I join the American Motorcycle Association, and fight for my rights.
There's a lot more stories--tons--ranging at my awe concerning the front area by the stairs of her house, to her motorcycling, to talking about motivation, to many other things. More later.

Date: 2006-05-17 08:49 pm (UTC)I had already heard that she was gone (news travels SO fast), so she didn't have to speak it. I am sad.
This was such a talented lady, and while I did not know her personally, I feel the loss of her in this world. Sigh.

Date: 2006-05-18 02:34 am (UTC)I'm glad I got to know Halima this past year. What a loss--two of our ladies in a month. Just makes you realize you CAN'T take the people in your life for granted--ever.
And a little scary, given that I am about to take up the motorcycle myself.

Date: 2006-05-18 03:32 pm (UTC)As you know, we're both still shaky over Pete -- we were at his funeral this weeked, and his death still feels unreal.
I still haven't been able to do anything much you could consider normal....
