Well, that was amusing.
Friday worked, Friday night went over to Baycon and met some of the zillions of people LAH had touched, sang in the memorial, (my own piece as noted before), did the masochism tango with R (swoon!) listened to some great music then came home.
Saturday: Well, wasn't feeling well. Laid around the house, couldn't focus on anything, so went and laid around Mom's House.
Sunday: Still not feeling well. Went to church, farmer's market (Hi Mom and Bro Rex), and then started working on wiring issues with Bro K. Figured max 8 hours of work.
hahahaha.
Good that the plans on everything else were fungible, as we buttoned the house back up at 7 this evening. He was here until 2 last night. Killed both his worklights, and spend WAAAY too much time trying to figure out the wiring in this place, using such engrossing terms as "Tailback" and "Stub". Hmm. I'm not up on housewiring lingo, I just run the wires around.
So, after $300 in materials, and 21 hours or so, I'm convinced that yes, I do need to rewire the whole damn place. The two lights that started the mess are still not back together (one doesn't have screws, one has a wiring fault, but I called finish so I could do the next activity.) BUT now there are no shorts in the walls; all the burnt/smoked switches/plugs/wiring has been replaced, and there is a ventilation fan in the attic. (The garage door broke to balance out the entropy equation.) Still need more vents for the attic, and definately to put a vent fan of some form in the bathroom, but NO SHORTS!
I'll finish up the lights tomorrow if I'm not working, and start putting the rooms together.
Brushed off, rushed off, stole some barbeque from my Mom, then went to the church and fed Hotel de Zink http://www.umpa.org/HDZ.html who really appreciated Mom's Marinated Meat (Tritip) (Thereform M^3 3T) (or even M^3 3^)
And so, thanks to the tireless (but sometimes clueless) work of Bro K who STILL would stop to explain to me what he was doing (Typical conversation: "Ok, got it, fish it here, pull it there, but can you describe the wiring connection I need to make without saying "stub"?) (Perils of doing a job versus being educated in theory.)
Job interview Friday. Perhaps a full time real job next year! Must start preparing.
G'night.
