Aiee! Hot hot hot. Wow, Edgar Edgar is a hot young man, as is Mort Greenbreeks, and Maley Willserge. (Bonus if you figure out who they are.)
Sucky fighting field. Too much stuff carried, sweating too much over stupid details. What is important? Don't worry about things that aren't.
Got the Thomchicks their tent and cooler back (they didn't even know I had one of their coolers) and lent them an air mattress. CJ is amazingly cute, and Rachel has hips that satisfy even very small women.
Saw spinning and flagging in the back of Spartanscamp, I have to learn that stuff, it's too cool.
Arrived at about 11:30 friday, found where things were going to be, slept in van both nights. Well, that's what it's there for. Didn't bring any food but the world provided, wasn't hungry due to the heat. Should have drunk more water.
Fighting looked good. None of my direct household on the field, need to fix that. All of Uther's squires were there. Havn looked strong. Bjorn was a powerhouse.
Achieved all of carry goals: Oerthan stuff, Wedding tent, table, chairs and ceremony, Thomchick stuff. Trouble mod 0 is in pretty good shape, barring the missing pole, and worked fine. Getting it assembled was nerve wracking. Not all the pieces made it...
Wedding went off fine, but R. is not an event co-ordinator. Eventually pointed out that Theophilous isn't my name, it's a title or description. Wedding went well if smaller than desired, but still, A was gallant, R was beautiful, W (dad) was proud and loud, and 3 (child) participated well.
Did a LOT of impromptu things. Judged the sciences contest--Plague remedies--great entries. Should study up on that. Judged/helped with Pied D'argent, yay, no one broke anything on that ground. Talked with Lodema a bit, she'd like me to work Dicken's for her--perhaps, if I don't get in at Fezziwig's. I wonder who I should hit up about that. Bought a book in a wool cover, the kind you can just hang on your belt, very nice. S
Saw "You Prayed For It", the best version ever--JIMR as one contestant, Hannah as the other, D. Paul as Augustine, Gerhardt as Eckhardt, and Bolverk as Theresa. HILARIOUS! Oh, and Leon as Ignatious. I ran this once, and saw the original, and this was the best ever.
Heard Anne (Oertha) sing a bit, beautiful voice. Sang some of the old standards at a party, (Barret's, etc.) and no one there had ever heard them. I thought EVERYONE had heard me sing Barrett's Privateers five times. Time to hold more Bardic Circles.
Ermine meetings didn't come off. Peerage meetings interesting. Thoughts on what events Xton should do asked. New news on archery in the SCA.
...the big problem is that when I'm bouncing around like a pinball, I'm not paying attention to people as I should. Hmm.
C. Lorraine's Pelicaning amazing; what art!
