It's like Burning Man hot, yah know? Makes me think of my time there, the hot days, the balmy evenings, the beautiful sunsets...today has all of those.
The tomatoes like it, if I water them enough. Twice a day, almost. The new plants in the back have grown a few inches since I put them in last Monday, Hoy! They like the heat.
I don't feel so out of it. Summer school at HTHS is over, and while I feel bad for the students, I also feel peeved at them. One was scamming me, lying about where he was, I assume so that he could have sex on campus. (The other students were sure.) One spent all her time on MySpace, and then tried to freak when I told her that not having a final presentation would fail the course. (I passed her; but... The lesson there for me is NEVER schedule the final project against the deadline; always put enough time in so that the make up can be done.) Oh, and the two kids who need to sleep? For God's sake, sleep, don't sit in my class and babble!
The administrator who was the former dean, though, never acknowledged my existance--when she needed to get something done she'd walk in the room, tell me what she needed, and walk out. Forms were sent to the new dean, and yet, somehow, my emails were never answered and no contract ever showed up. The way she looked at me then past me after noting that I was there... Same sort of feeling as when a Little Old Lady looks at me on my bike, then drives over me because Motorcyclists Don't Exist in their world.
Ahem. Good luck, Godspeed to all of the students at that school. I just hope they never need basic physics, because most of them didn't absorb it. Then again, how much did I absorb in High School?
Two weeks of SVEC Summer Academy left; the usual shenanigans there. LPS still has openings, but I don't know if that's a good idea. And I'm just not feeling energetic in the heat--hey, who is?
Tomorrow, go pick up some more stuff from dead friends.

Date: 2006-07-23 09:14 pm (UTC)You have my admiration for even trying--but ANYONE who can teach in the public schools has my undying admiration. If it's not the kids and their parents, its the administration--as you are now experiencing. Just remember always to BREATHE!!
When can we go for a ride? Are you experienced with having a rider? Edric is pretty busy right now with getting ready for Sturgis and Burning Man and we haven't gotten to go out and just ride much lately.
I'm jonesing...
Not a public school, per se...
Date: 2006-07-27 07:51 pm (UTC)Ride...after I get through things. Yes, I'm used to having a pillion.
Through things; 6 more days...
