Places, spaces, and saving faces

In Ashland, visiting some friends going through hard times. The visit is nice, and it's very good to get away from the energy sucks I've set up for myself (and fall into a completely different set of energy sucks.)_ People up here have been really nice; we've talked a lot about a lot of things, gone to the gym--they let me plant tomatoes and wash the cars, which of course are very positive activities for me.
It's beautiful in Ashland, with multiple theaters, a college campus, access to inexpensive housing (10 miles up the road), large mocha's are 2.50, and the pace of life is slower. I could sell my house, buy a place free and clear up here, and go back to college....
Manager called from work, got the message, all the stress comes zooming back, "Oh by the way we need to do this Monday morning." It's Saturday afternoon, he knows I"m out of town, he's fucking with me, again. Or, alternatively, he's allways clueless and helpless about management stuff. Either way, my stress spiked and my only thought was "What's this bullshit mean?" Not a good working relationship. Of course, the calling Saturday afternoon for someone who is out of the office for four days...
Yeah, wait; after the interview of doom he suggested I take some time off, so I have. It was good to get on the bike and ride, and tempting to just keep going...but that sacrifices the job.
I still need a plan.
