Brief Update: Mantra, Offtra, Hitra, Mothra!
Well, that was fun.
Much thanks to
shutt3rg33k for doing all the drivin'. Well, at least there...
Thursday went up and saw some burlesque, FINALLY. The bar is smallish, but the drinks are excellent and excellent value. The mix of acts was funny. And Ary is a good girl...poor dear, who was to know we were peeking in? Best dancer was probably the bellydancer at the end; she did her number to clapping and piano after the amp went. Funniest was the magician. But as was said, you were more there to be part of the crowd than to really be into the show. Next time (whenever that may be) I've got to DRESS for it!
Friday very slow day, was going to go to Yuri's party but never got up the energy for it. Which was OK, because Saturday was all about the energy. Got there, helped fetch privies, observed the rain (it was wet) but the site was nice. Assembled with the household and went up to the battlefield, where we met up with Raven Lance and started working. For a bunch of relatively untrained newbies and a couple crispy big guys we did OK, even with my shield straps broken after the first charge. The new legbelt is amazingly positive. Lack of traction/action not so; spent a lot of time sliding, as did we all. Got some good shots.
Very good war. After the fighting ended (I opted out of the relics of St. Colin. I mean, dude, that was one huge ball in a sack!) downarmored--no big loss--and bought some nice dry socks. Worked on some of the bardic stuff, and waited for it. Met with the lance, they did good, and formally took oath from Petra. Yay! First new fealty relationship in I don't know...gotta go poke someone about that.
Much thanks to

<lj-name="misagillian"> was kind enough to feed me, meat and barley. Should have had some salad. Helped with dishes, then tried to finish a couple songs for the bardic.
What a bardic. I finally gave up trying to put a framework around some of the basic kennings, and for the Gryphs, was going to do "Spot". Leah and Evony showed up, and blew that away, although they were working for Cynaguan units. (After their presentations, I didn't feel "Spot" was up to it.) Branwen and Vinny had nice pieces, and then Branwen kept it going with good control, and presented one of her marvelous stories. Funniest by my count was Storm's story of the war (Documentation!) and then I was embarrassed by the lack of Mists bards, so went up and did the kennings anyway, which were funny and fun to play (the audience had to guess who I was naming.) The song for Gemini's group was great, and totally deserved to win--Kat sang it beautifully. (I think Storm should have gotten the booze, he was so funny.)
Then we just sang a bit.
Sunday, planted more tomatoes, watched some of the Wooster and Jeeves (very funny) and did taxes.
This morning, got my CPAP. Gonna be an interesting week...
