Dangit! He got the two summer squash; ate the roots, left the rest to rot. That's it; it's trap time.

Oh no! I've not planted anything because I've seen the deer in the yard. I might try some tomatoes, though. They don't seem to eat tomatoes.

I hope you have better luck witht he Varmit Cong than McNamara did with the Viet Cong!

oh pooh, I should have saved the gopher skull (found today) for you to make an anti-kong totem with... but it gave me a start leering out of the green waste pile and I made it get thrown away.

Oh noes!

Live trap or deceased?

Neither. Irritation!

...I just can't kill someone because we disagree (although the varmit is testing me. Perhaps Ghod sent him?) All he eat is the roots. All I eat is the fruit. Alas, the roots are tender long before the fruit is.

I have the gopher noisemakers; one from last year, and a new spiffy solar powered one! Yay technology! I hope they work. Otherwise, I might have to go mano a pocketgophero. And borrow someone's dog...

Until then, the spikes stuck in the ground will buzz and click intermittantly. Designed to turn every gopher into a jumpy angsty unable to cope in MY yard rodent.

(My karma allows a dog, Ma!)

We can work something out with tethering Nanook in your back yard for a bit.

I have heard of burying wire cages that have holes too small for a gopher to squeese through and then planting within the cage. I think chicken wire would be too large a hole for a gopher, and I haven't gotten to figuring out what wire would work to keep one out. Not that this is helpful for this season, but maybe for future.
