1. My socialness was impaired by my last job; I'm gunshy of being around people. Since I couldn't predict what mood my troublethugs would be in, I had to gauge it as we went, and it was often foul, screaming, "FUCK YOU! NOW DEAL WITH ME!" So now, I'm not so into groups, or crowds. Pity.

2. My enthusiasm for teaching took a hit, too. I guess this is the essence of burnout.

3. Walks like a duck, quacks like a duck, has dirty water like a...continuation school. I'm sorry that students were lured there on the promise of UC standards education. But when a significant number of your students are discipline cases thrown out of other schools, you're in a continuation school. That's the way it is. And it sucks to be a college bound student fighting for resources with the gangstas.

4. My track record on picking schools to work at SUCKS. High Tech High, fired me before the beginning of the school year, then failed, and then this place, with its myriad of problems...

5. Off to deal with the enthusiastic! I honestly need to start going to the gym to keep up with them. ...

You're coming off of what was basically an abusive relationship. It will take you a little time to get back to your old happy ways. This is normal. I'm sure you can do it.

Socialness is calming though, especially for extroverts like you. Plus, little happy hyper kids are fun to be around. You should meet our littlest. :) Let me know when you're up for it.
