Learning New Things

New things amuse me. Well, new to me.

1. Cooked with da Cardinal. Learned a new phrase: Other People's Blood. I'm going to have to ratchet up the fun machine to party with that Church, can I get Awomen?
2. Sewed a white linen undertunic for the first time since...before my knighting. Left to do: trim the insides, neck treatment, hem.
3. Made pickles, inspired by the ones last week at the benchmaking. Sliced cukes, shook on sea salt, simmered water, apple cider vinegar, and dill together, dumped it over the cukes, stuck in fridge. Waited an hour and poured out the salty mix, after throwing more cukes on top. Also tried purple cauliflower dressed with limeade, next time a lemon or a lime instead, didn't get the color change. Fried/steamed turban squash. Delicious! Helped that the veggies were so fresh, of course. Need to do this more.
4. Learned best method to cook spinach in soup: add it after you turn the heat off, stir twice, good enough.
5. Got the knife flick working both ways, blade up and blade down. Got the one handed close down, need to practice the variants.

Goals for week:
1. Spend a bunch of time with R, his surgery is on Thursday.
2. Get all bills sorted out.
3. Drink 10 glasses of water every day; work out minimum an hour every day.
4. Get the rest of the carpet out of the house.
5. Organize the dang kitchen.
6. Dye the hair with the henna.
7. Call the tatoo guy and make an appointment.

We could indeed possibly use the coffee table you offered. But we need you to see the shop first so you can tell us if it'd fit. :)

Also, our band needs either a guitar lead or a vocalist, if you have time to rock.

Did I tell you I once had my own vanity band? Yep, a band that existed so that I could play in it. I've got two possibilities for coffee tables; we'll figure it out.

Hint RE 2) After cutting the pieces out, I sew the neck first on tunics - while it's still a flat thing :)

I'm in cheater mode; the body is one long piece looped over, with gussets up the sides into the sleeves. So there's no neck until I put one it! Probably hand sew it...I think the next step is to use an actual sleeve pattern, rather than just eyeball it.

Fun to be sewing. Hey, do you have any pictures of your wagon online? I'd love to see it.
