5 Other summer things...

That I've not done in a while. And I should.

1. Chased fireflies. Put them in a jar. Let them go. Firefly Dating service!

2. Roman candles into a lake. (Human fire flying.)

3. Sake and the moon. This one works best at about 1 AM. (The narrow road to the deep .....)

4. Danced through a summer rainstorm.

5. Ice cold beer while fishing on the lake in the midwest. Or especially after a long day helping out--husking corn, baling hay (ick), walking the fences.

I should probably plan to go to Lilies. I bet you could all of these there, if you count fighting as "helping out".

I miss fireflies. Growing up in CT, where they're orange, it surprised the hell out of me to find they were light green in WI. Wonder if we could cross-breed the two and get a whole kaleidoscope? ;)

The fireflies were just starting when we left for CA, and they were just ending when we got back. :-(

I really noticed our firefly deficit when we came home from our town's temporally displaced fireworks. We always go by bicycle, and when we come home we always stop by the open field near our house to watch the fireflies. (A quiet lightshow after the noisy lightshow!)

This year 2 things were different. First, it was July 26 and the fireflies were finished. Second, there's been a house built in that field, so there might not be as many fireflies even when it's the right date.

We have fireflies. And our own pond. For now. Better come soon.

Ooh fireflies! Hm. I haven't seen one in ages. I saw wild turkey this morning, though. Does that count? ;)
