learnteach: (Injury)

1. I do not make a good patient. People taking care of me == me failing, in my brain. Being bored makes me want to do stupid things. Stupid in the sense of "Not Lay on the Couch/Bed and Heal."

2. I am fortunate. This is a relatively painless wound.
3. The surgeon is from the same medical group as the clinic that treated me in November; based on that experience, the billing Tangle (like a Tango, with more paperwork) is going to be quite a dance. Thinking Masochism Tango by TL for the music, but it's way too short.
4. It is healing, slowly. The wet to dry bandage provides some mechanical debridement.
5. Garter Belt: The only way to hold the bandage in the right place for an inner thigh wound. I've tried everything else, and a garter belt works best. Who woulda thought?

6. It irritates me that my big teaching commitment this year...is now blown out of the water. Dammit.

7. Social commitments for the next month? Back seat to healing. Dangit.

8. I am glad to have this resolved (hopefully.) The re-injury was truely frightening.

I have no idea what #1 is like. Really. Ask Michael. I'm the perfect patient. *chortle*

Handwork? Books and videos just made me feel even more like a wastrel when I had to do that, although if there were good enough at least I forgot temporarily that I was a wastrel.

Regarding #1: would you like visitors? Like, tomorrow? I have baked goods and cards.

Regarding #7: Please call me so I can work out other DJ arrangements. Your recovery is important.

Hope you heal up fast, before you go stir-crazy.

Yeah, well you know what the personal mindfuck is - that sense of failure - now the power is in taking care of yourself so that you are the master, and choosing the right people to aid you in that endeavor. I am actually a good patient, for all that my reputation sucks - but I find the lack of failure comes with knowing the situation and finding ways to agree with the treatment.
