Events and all:Feasts

I don't know how it happened...I used to be a small war junkie, and would go to SCA small wars. Now I seem to be a Feast Fool, going from Feast to Feast.
Esfenn Feast of Fine Arts: Amazingly good food, the cooks overcame a kitchen the size of a motorhome galley to serve wonderful delights on schedule, and the integration of the food and the entertainment went very well. The only improvements I would have put in would be to seat people closer together and preset the dishes so the servers knew exactly which ones to take where. The favorite piece for me was the Gerhardt play. There was a theme of Courtly Love that emerged, unbidden, but enough of the entertainment involved Love (especially the play) that it was so. The food being served a credenza worked very well. I would rate this the third best feast I've ever attended...well, hmm. Foodwise/servingwise. Behind the 10 year Drachenwald anniversary feast and the collegium Perfectly Period feast
Darkwood Masked Ball: The food was lovely, and served as a sideboard. I got to spend time with the fun and talented Twice Terror Twins (not my sobrequet for them, but hey!) and run some boffer fighting, teach dance, and be in a vampygoth film shoot. Some of the masks were astonishingly good (brid) and the dancing was fun.
Mist's Bardic Feast: When I arrived, I realized I had forgotten my houppelond, so I wore shirt, tights, regalia and my server's towel, and spend much of the time helping out in the kitchen. The kitchen staff overcame the lack of stovetops that were usable (the gas line was out) and cooked a delicious feast. Unfortuneatly, the overall tone of the event was loss; it was a big part of the competition, and just before things got going a banishment was announced, which means that there has been a loss on the SCA front. Singing "To The West" was wonderful there. Being able to help in the kitchen (onion chopping, my Julia moment!) was fun. And some very good presentations.
Now, to plan the Dance Ball!
