SCA Corpora

. Banishment.

NOTE: I have removed much of this text, as Rachel was not banished, but exiled from the realm. Please see notes below.

The result: She may not attend events in the current reign.

(2) Banishment from the realm withholds recognition of the banished person's honors and titles, and bars active participation in Society events in that realm for the duration of the banishment or the reign, whichever is lesser. Banishment from the realm specifically does not preclude attendance at events, as long as the banished person makes no effort to engage in activities subject to the jurisdiction of any officer, or otherwise disrupt the peace of the event. The Society Seneschal and the Board will automatically review banishments from the realm. Such a banishment must be imposed only in response to serious transgressions against Society rules or standards of behavior at a Society event or in the course of performing official duties on behalf of the Society. If the Board determines that such a banishment is without merit or has been unfairly imposed, the banishment will be lifted and the royalty that imposed it may be subject to sanctions.

Thanks to Hamish (Dave) for the note. The specific language used on Saturday, in the announcement, as I recall, was: "Rachel Zavala, known in the SCA as Ysabella Dolphin, is level II banished." When it is published in the Kingdom newsletter, in the ...November issue, as per Corpora, we will have the exact words. I RECALLED WRONG.

Megan has stated that reasons are not given to the general populace due to the everpresent American possibility of lawsuit. She has both reigned and served as Kingdom seneschal, and has the clue. However, we should be able to see a history
of actions taken both as a problem, and to correct that problem. That history is not clear to me. Please note that I worked with Ysabella on the Esfenn Feast of the Fine Arts, and so may be considered partisan.

Please note that the opinion I am expressing is that I wish more information, directly from sources, rather than stir the witch's cauldron of rumor.

Thank you. I was wondering just what affect this had and for how long.

It's still unclear. The big question is whether Ysa will be autocratting the West/An Tir war next year. At this point the Royalty could have someone else autocrat. But I don't know if she's autocrat of record for it.

In real terms, it just means she has to avoid the Royalty, and can't hold office or title, which limits her...very little.

Sounds like at worst it would last until 12th night, which would impede communications about west/AnTir portapotties and such. It would be nice if the BoD could have a conference call real soon and sort this out. Given that none of us knows of any action on Ysa's part that is so egregious as to merit exile, I would be very surprised indeed if the proclamation was upheld.

It also means that she can not finish her effort to compete in the Kingdom Arts and Sciences Championship. She has been one of the three people competing this year, and now all that effort is for naught.

Oh crap, that's right! Now I'm even more annoyed!

As of right this minute, there's no reason that she can't autocrat the war next year.
