1. If you really want to help Haiti, go give blood locally. The more blood overall is in the system, the more is available. Locally, Stanford Blood bank is nice.
2. I like rain. A cubit is between 17 and 25 inches. Now you know how big to build the ark, right?
3. The SCA has rather ceased to be fun, separate from the people. This is a problem for me. How do I go back to having fun?
4. Moby the van is developing more symptoms. I won't be traveling much in the van.
5. I have listened to too many movie critics recently.

there it is!

Become a FUNdamentalist 4 the SCA! It stops being fun when you burn out, or are treated poorly. Find new people in the SCA, join them in their discovery and fun.

It's not always easy...

I hear ya. I've been spending lots of time with my SCA friends... Just not at events.

Come to March Crown, and pretend you're visiting from An Tir! The politics are meaningless, then, and it's all about seeing the people that you know and love, and having a good time!

The smartest thing I ever did was quit the SCA. Twice. So far.

Go do something else fun-rewarding-inspiring for as long as you need to. Come back when you miss it enough, secure in the knowledge that there is a lot of world and a lot of other things to do and people to meet whenever the SCA begins to wear on you.

Does no van mean more motorcycle?

I move to new locations. Then the SCA is both brand-new and shiny, and also an old, familiar, comfortable constant in my life making it easier to settle into my new home. As a result I've never yet hit this "burn out" of which so many others speak, and it is all fun.

For those of you who aren't free to move, but are lucky enough to live near a variety of branches, try a minor shift--find a group with whom you've not done much hitherto, and start learning what they have to offer and teaching what you have to offer. New friends, new connections, help make old activities fun, again.

Go back to the beginning. At some point it was about something different for you than how the dice currently lay on the table.

Paint anew.

wrt 3:

Identify what makes up the SCA. Categorize these things into "fun" and "not-fun". Do more of A and less of B.

No really.. the political shit and back-biting was getting me down. I declared myself Switzerland and cast out the unbelievers. Much better now.
