What is a dream job?
What do I want to do? What do I need to get?
....one observer said that I don't have what it takes to work in high tech. That opinion is worth what it cost me; I have a higher refusal of crap than that particular person, and also a less inflated opinion of both tech and myself. But even given that...
Need: Money to live on, to do things with, to pay for roof and bowl and bandage: the health care thing is big, of course.
Need: Involvement with people. Sitting alone in the dark I can do, and do well, but not for long periods of time. But also need to be able to play with ideas/technology.
In a test a long time ago (Tymnet) I came out as a mix, but mainly auditorial (I care that the system and the facts are right) and an expressive (art matters) but not a social (everyone must be involved) or an authoritarian (I need to make decisions.)
I like to work with systems and how they affect people.
I like to travel. I'm good at Sales Engineering (provably) and tech support, bad at database programming (too much time in the room alone) and ..
Note: No technology noted. None that required. I do like systems over either hardware or software.
So, it's the people. Now, must find a new job...out of money, which means no bowl, bandage or bandinage.

I've had several friends who taught overseas for several years and all of them loved it. My friend who teaches in China says you don't even need to know Chinese to get the job either. Apparently the students are just desperate to learn American English from a native speaker. A couple others teach in American Schools and enjoy that too. In many countries you'd still be able to pursue SCA activities in your spare time too. I know I would have done it if I hadn't had family I needed to care for here.
