The results are in

Did a fasting blood test yesterday.

Did one today (same vein.)  Gotta say, the phlebotomists are better at anatomy, as well as having better equipment.  I haven't had to have more than a single stick that worked in years, and they've hurt less, too.   But the needles are noticably smaller as well, from what I remember 20 years ago.

Results today?  All good, except

Glucose, Fasting        Standard Range   60 - 99 mg/dL        Your Value   130

Shit.   I'm diabetic.

Starting HMR in 5 hours...(intake appointment, which is why the fasting blood sugar tests.)

EDIT:  Hmm.  It's dropped from the previous reading...advice from DR?  Go on the diet, retest in 3 months.  Also, blood fats better (HDL a little low).   Moar Exercise!

Yes, but not that badly out of control. You are catching it early, they should be able to help you out with medications and diet changes.

The value that matters isn't the one-time fasting blood glucose measure, it's the Hgb A1C. They should do that one - it takes a day or so for results.

When I was diagnosed, my fasting blood glucose was around 300, and the A1C came back with an average blood glucose of 250. I've gotten those values down to the 150 range. You should be able to get yourself down to the standard ranges with a good diet and medicines.

Good luck!

I see two nearly-identical LJ entries; that may be your problem.
