Why I make Salsa (short version)

Long version involves motorcycle ride with Leighann, sandstorms, the use of watermelon in naming conventions, and why one actually takes left turns near Albequerque, and the basic nature of me.
Short version: On a business trip to Albequerque, I stayed in one of the 3 major hotels there...most people probably stay in one of the secured areas of the bases. IN the newly re-opened restaurant of the hotel, they had a neat gimmick for your food. It was SouthWest themed, and they would come by the table, set a bowl of tri-color chips (really the local thang, that tricolor), produce a bowl with a jalapeno, half an onion, a few sprigs of cilantro--and then pull out a little hand mixer and make the salsa at the table.
It was great salsa, fresh and perfect. I bought a machine there--a "Robot Culinaire" and came back and tried it. Works fine. And it's cheap! 1/2 pound of good salsa (1 cup) at the farmers market is $5. That's enough to make 4 times that much on your own...
And it's even better if you grow your own ingredients. So I've planted Salsa gardens for the last 4 years. Probably not next year, as I sell and move.
Salsa Fresca!
