...one bite at a time...
Going through the stuff in my father's estate is surreal.
It's not quite Christmas Carol, as we stand around the table, open the boxes and bags, and try to figure out what to do with stuff...but there's still a ghoulish echo of that for me. It's not that any of us have big wants, but the old man did have good taste, and some nice stuff, and it seems wrong to let it go to waste. But ghoulish, to me, to ask for it. And selfish to keep it, but to throw away leather jackets? New luggage? Camera gear?
As a memorial, I want to go into the wilderness and photograph nudes. I should make that happen. Probably won't get to it.
The check from the bank account arrived--2 weeks late, envelope cut open, routing info covered in black pen...I wonder why? Now we can begin the next level of disbursement, and I can start wrestling with the taxes. Yay.
It's kinda hard. It's hard to explain.
And I've got at least a month of working on it to go. That's if everything goes perfectly. whee.
At least I did the porn purge right off, so we're not seeing that (only possibilities.) But the box of tissue paper, holding scabs? Now I want to douse everything in bleach and alcohol. Everything, then set it on fire.

And the work specialness is increasing. They were nice (haha) and saved up a bunch of things for me when I came in...so it was instant sev 1 panic with 5 other "must do's" pending immediately. And questions from managment on how I was handling various issues, which is all documented in the case notes, but management doesn't read the case notes, they focus on the last email from customer, so if you call and talk to the customer proactively? Nope. What? Why didn't you email them? IT's in the case notes--why not use email?
Sigh. Only contract. But it's gonna be a long month. And as contract, I'm not paid to worry--yay!
sigh

The will, unsigned, was not in the safe. It was with the shoeboxes containing 30 years of paystubs.
