A year ago....

So little change in some ways: House, work, what to do, vacation. So great a change: attempt to marry, fail. An actor in Sacromento, and the fears of war realized completely...we're going to see Afghanistan crumble back to the Taliban, soon, and the violence in Iraq is going to be amazing. As for me, I feel sadderbudweiser, stareyedandport, and sailing on.

Just got back into contact with the ex; glad she's in Colorado, because I still want to make things better for her, which is bound to fail. Was asked the question yesterday why I was attracted to her...good question. Off to work!

I read this and I had a pretty strong reaction to it. I don't have words myself, so I will tell you what it made me think of.

First thought:
The first is an idea espoused by Carl Jung. There are problems that are simply unsolvable. You do not need to solve them and as time goes on and you move on, you will gain a new perspective on the problem. As with a storm in a valley, if you climb above it, it will seem less accute. The new vantage point does not change the truth of the storm, but it's immediacy and intensity has changed. This is how we humans manage to adapt as well as we do.

Second thought:
It is better to conquer yourself than to win a thousand battles.

In the throes of a situation, it is sometimes difficult to see a path out. It is important to give yourself time and space to heal. In the end, you will find yourself precisely where you need to be in the universe.
