Small Victories

Planted tree in front yard (California Buckeye, Auescalus Californica, from Yerba Buena Nursery (1)) and once was in the dirt, went on and planted all the tomatoes (6 this round, Ace, 2 Patio, Oregon Bush, Cherry, and Celerity) and some seeds (gourd) as well. Weeding is good.


(1) Beautiful place this time of year; found out what native wisteria looks like, as well as Del Norte lilies flowering. Inspired by noressa bought a currant but didn't get it into the ground.

Found out why no expense checks; ex-manager has not informed corporate that I have turned everything in. This, along with the fact that EDD needs to interview me, is cooling my recollections of this idiot. I should have got it in writing.

It's my cry for the last week: Should have got it in writing.

Still a houseslug...perhaps a little less now.

Yay, planting! It's a good thing. We ended up with the 5 gallon currant and are trying to grow 2-3 cuttings from some of the newer growth... And yay with the gourds, too! Are they by the tree again?

The tree area will eventually get 4 gourd hills, tomatoes, and potentially sunflowers.

Oh, the sunflowers! Hopefully this year they'll fare a little better. ^^; Though I think the squirrels had fun. Just need to make sure that there is someone who'll water the plants for you, should you go on a trip for a while...

Trees are good. My okra is sprouting and so are a couple of cucumber plants. Pumpkins also look to be having a go of it. I found the giant pumpkin seeds yesterday and planted them. They need a few more days to get going. I think I need some new chive seeds. The ones I have just won't sprout. I need new tomato plants.

My experience with the EDD is that the front line of people you talk to can be either extremely nice and helpful or slimy and out to get you. It was about a 50/50 split for me. Tell the truth, and if they decide to interpret it against you, appeal, because then you get to talk to the smart people.

Yerba Buena Nursery is a dangerous place! I've been avoiding going back, because it's too tempting to spend money there.

My wife really likes the currants too! We had one in Mountain View but it didn't really thrive; hopefully it will do better in S.F.

Trees & EDD

My almond tree never did get happy enough to grow, so Caitlin is going to get rid of it and move a volunteer fig to the spot we had picked out. Then I can sit under my fig tree!

I've also charted out a spot for some semi-miniature dogwoods. I love them so!

That's a great nursery. I have wandered around there for hours. I got a nice tree fern there once.

What no zuchinni? Those zuchinni were awesome! What will my iguanas eat all next fall?

I've gotta get some plants in the ground soon too.
