Campbell Island

Woo! Maxfield Parrish in angel form is painting in the clouds posing voluptously over the snow peaks beyond the rolling forest across the sound. Who needs New Zealand? I was able to dodge all the thunderstorms as far as serious rain went, and so the air and road looked scrubbed and the sun is bright and clear. The road had some great curves, and the internet cafe owner told me where the true motorcyclist road is (Campbell RIver to Gold River on BC 28) so I'll ride that tomorrow, after checking out the Misty Woods nursery some more.
Contracted timeline inverted: Mad Campbell River in time to grab tourist info, including location of perfect Internet coffeehouse/seavood joint, http://www.beehiveseafoodgrill.ca/ which overlooks the river? sound! and the tugboat Yucata and the children's play area (who'd a thunk of marco polo on the wooden pirate ship?). Before that, swung through Misty Woods Nursery just as it was closing, which was cool, as I saw the rhododendrums and enough things to make me want to check it out tomorrow.
Before that, was buzzing through the peaks on BC 19. Saw a bear in a gully next to the road. Striking lakes. Mountain peaks. Clearcuts on the side of the road (shocking to see). Had a game of tag with a logging truck passing; won handily (and thus am very fine, although there's cedar bark on the bike, which smells great.) Stopped in Woss and Klaklakama just because of the town names.
Got off the ferry at 1:30, after a very nice trip, mostly spent writing in a journal on the aft deck (there was no forward deck.) and watching the islands. Saw some seals or perhaps dolphins, and much waterborn wood.
Boarded the ferry after a very good bowl of pho at 8 PM last night in Prince Rupert, after a run down the Skeena river road in a light rain.
Getting called every day by people trying to get me to commit to land issues but the cell phone only has enough energy after a full recharge to listen to one message and that's it. Will replace in the states. Next stop: Vancouver, tomorrow; need to figure out where/when. Excelsior!
