Thursday fighter practice in Rivenoak (Chico). In attendence: Sir Bjorn, Roberto (brand new), Gregory, Nicolai, Sir Gersten.

Armored up about 8, fought until 10.

Worked with everyone. Nicolas is a boxer, worked some shield and counter drills with him. Gregory fights heater and thrusting broadsword, worked on flow with him and Roberto, who defaults into rapier position.

Armor: Right leg drifting. All else good. Forgot surcoat. Could stand to have some form of skirt.
Shield: Used Roderick's old shield, still hard to block legwraps. Starting to blow at right corner.
Sword: Blew basket off, otherwise fine.

Power good, combos ok, aggression good, Bjorn was able to set me back (one of the few who can overwhelm me with size and aggresive attacks) but defense worked well. He runs a good training practice, everyone learned something.

Last shot to leg hit back pocket, really hurt. Was 10 to 10 so downarmored, discovered roofing nails in back pocket. Bzzzz!

Nicolas wants to fight Greatsword--6'. Should be cool!

Bjorn talked about stance and being able to fight onside, square, or goofy foot--good point, need to work on that. His lineage is good in square stance.

It's always good to have more greatsword fighters. Was the 6' a reference to the fighter or the stick?

Roofing nails really tops the normal "keys in pocket" mistake. I hope you weren't badly injured.

Richard also spends a lot of time on fighting from any stance, and from the transitions between. I find that quite helpful, especially as I tend to get into transition states that are either out of balance or too heavily committed. Something to work on.

You need to get back to aikido. It's great for teaching the balance necessary to fight from any position.

Ahh, Chico. No wonder you weren't around when I was looking for lunch things to do. Teaches me not to check here before I go out. Sounds like great fun - this and the skylight. Maybe I'll have to get you to help make a skylight in my house now that you know how...

skylight size, rodenators

You do realize that we ended up with a 2x skylight after I put my leg through the ceiling, right? Unintended...but the dimensions looked good.

And hey, thanks Lou! The Rodenator is "Environmentally Friendly"! Cool!
