the original recommended store was gone. This cybercafe is open until 11 on a sunday in france. it's so beyond beleivable i can only smile. and there are 3 others in here with me
lesee...the food has been amazingly good. We had lunch at a winery today and it was wonderful-fresh salad, french bread, rotelle pasta in butter, sausage cooked in grape pressings (saucission au vene) and paradis, the first press of the fermented grapes. Learned applause song (la la la la la, etc) with motions. Bought some good red bujoilais and two bottles of claret (aka rose) so must have a Jack Aubrey feast when I return. Wandered through the countryside on the bus playing wahoo, lost twice.
Walked old town Lyon yesterday; feet are flat not fleet but Mom ordered the most darling teal shoes. Now if only could convince her to stop discussing her son's love lifes with these strangers...she sez I'm not considering the reality of the situation. perhaps time to move far away? Lunch yesterday amazing...cournage (sp?)
Irritating guide now has many letures. Gonna bug out tomorrow and do laundry. Cooking school and more tasting coming.

Date: 2004-09-26 09:25 pm (UTC)Gotta wonder just what "realities" Momis speaking of in matter of *someone else's love life* and just how it became her business to discuss with complete strangers, but I guess that's moms for ya. Probably not excluding self :P *sigh*
Jack Aubrey party sounds like stellar idea, especially if paired with "talk like Stephen Maturin" day. :):):)

Date: 2004-09-27 12:25 pm (UTC)Sounds like a great trip, except for the Mom-embarassing stuff. :-) My mom's done stuff like that to me. Only it was regarding, shall we say, issues that guys don't have to deal with. Now ~that's~ embarassing.
