Rolling in just now from The Blarney Stone, a guiness pub next to the radison. Just realized on the walk back that I was 90 degrees out of sync with the map, so I was not where I thought I was, but made it back.

Went back to the store and bought two more books. I'm a bibliophiliac too, bleeding for words. Ah, life. Was scouting around the hotel where the conference is when a man asked me to help him.

You see, his girlfriend dropped his key out the window in a bag so he could get in, but the bag fluttered onto a sign on the next building. Could he boost me up and me grab it, being taller? Not at 170 kg, nope. BUt I boosted him, and he was just short when someone handed us a broom to grab it.

So he had to buy me a beer. In we go to the pub (it's about 7) where we meet the locals (all of them about 10) And so the night begins.

Gina. Dancing. Arguuing IT. Drinking. Texans. THe NY canadian behind the bar. Drinking. Talking with everyone. WOw.

Got out at 1 am after a long talk with Warren, an AA pilot who just came up from Octoberfest in Munich. Talked history with Gina, and lent her the Pratchett book. SHe's getting married in 6 weeks. Lots of advice on what to do in Holland.

Good adventure: people, dancing, talking, lending books. No, great adventure!

See, you *ARE* a party animal, if it's the right sort of party! One where you can actually interact, rather than just getting drunk and yelling through music that's too loud.

A local I knew years ago from Ireland said the locals pissed on the blarney stone regularly, because they knew the tourists all kissed it. Presume the local pub didn't have this problem.
