IT was last month! Drats! BUt that's OK, I didn't like her.

From CVirtue:

1: Name a CD you own that no-one else on your friends list does, and describe it: Harp Celtica;
just bought it in a little cistercian church in borgogne region of france; harp tunes, that the harpist was playing in the church.

2: Name a book you own that no-one else on your friends list does, and describe it:
British Version of TPratchett's Going Postal, without stamp from Waterstones. Currently on walkabout.

3: Name a movie you own on DVD/VHS/whatever that no-one else on your friends list does, and describe it:
My knighting. It's on VHS, and it's my knighting.

4: Name a place that you have visited that no-one else on your friends list has, and describe it:
Wow. How about Kitimat, BC? Granite rocks, swamps, and a deepwater port in a town of 7500 with housing for 10,000.

Nope! Home videos don't count, however significant.

Ok, hmmm.

When you get home, check out www.dvdrhelp.com; there are lots of cheap DVD players these days that can be made region-free.

(slaps self on head) BATH! I loved Bath!

Go early as possible to the roman baths -- no one will be there. It was WAAAY KEEN. We stayed at a place on the ridge above the town, and used it as a base of operations for stonehenge, eastern Wales, etc. Took a lot of those green double decker buses that you get on and off of, very nice; used one of those to go to Stonehenge, Avebury, white horse, etc.

Consider going to the costume museum, definitely go inside the church to see the old memorials. I know we did lots of things there, but that's what stands out after 7 years without looking at our photos, so it must have been the best parts.

The baths are cool, taking the water is highly overrated (bleah!) I wasn't as excited by the costume museum. The old assembly halls are cool, just from a cultural perspective. The Guide Friday buses (which Cyn refers to above) are an excellent way to go (they've usually also got tix for some of the sights, and a pass good for discount on another bus tour in another town).

Definitely agree on drinking the special water. Clearly one of the "it tastes horrible, it must be good for you" things. Horse hockey!

Costume museum is, well, it's not SCA period, but it does have a lot of interesting things and a rightfully international reputation. But it's not something I'd say is a Must-See, hence the "consider" remark.

And then there was Teddy Bear Traitor's Cloister.

Now, look: you've got to explain these things! The man only gets online for short periods of time!

It was a display that, well, I hope a lot of kids DIDN'T see. A toystore. Before Easter. The shop window was filled with a big green piece of cardboard, and it looked like teddy bears had their heads poked through, and flower petals put around their necks. A spring field full of teddy bears, very cute, very Anne Geddes.

Except several had fallen, revealing that there were no suspended pilloried bears behind the board -- it was all Decapitated Bears! A couple dozen at least.

Teddy Bears and Kitimat

Hmm. Saw the Rat Display in London; in Bath, there wasn't anything like a Bear anti-Picnic (Tom Holt has a good take on this). And it's been pointed out by Victoria that she got me to go to Kitimat, and she is on my friend's list. D'oh.
