having an intangible goal is a bit frustrating, but there is a lot of stuff these kids get from you that isn't measured. Like for instance, they may not have an authority figure in their life who qualifies as a 'normal' person, and at this age, they may stop looking for one. there are always eyes upon you.
You are obviously doing a theoretical and philosophical study of the absurd which will become an award winning off broadway musical. Or you are just masochistically determined to make a difference where one is obviously and dramatically needed. xo
Because they cut you a paycheck once a month. And because there's a student in the masses who probably doesn't do squwat or say anything who will NOT wind up dead or in jail two years from now due to something you said or did. Problem is that kid will never thank you, and you'll likely never know who he/she is.
If you like your teaching colleagues, I highly recommend finding a bar close to the school and "meeting" there after school on Fridays.
