12th Night

The last day of Christmas, now we return to the year of work. Tomorrow I diet, but today I ruminate--so many images, people, things going on at 12th Night.
My Twelfth Night was to a different rhythm. I had few committed duties (MC one dance thing, help at the other, dinner at some point) but wanted to make sure Rebbecca had a good time (or, at least, that I didn't run her into the ground.) It's different for me, not being in the runway landing pattern of court. And I didn't mind missing all the court, frankly; I think that court as a ceremony that binds together the SCA as a Kingdom has lost out to court of personality where the Royals try for adoration.
Flashes of memory:
The winning hat for me was not Ascelin's popcorn top but Gillian's HiveHairscraper Hennin. In men, didn't see anything truely winning in hats. Actually, the hats on Aurelia's table were wonderful, but they were all girl hats...I know Bennet gets some of them, but none were displayed. Best garb overall? I don't know; there was a lot of very fabulous stuff. The spring green linen that both Heath's girlfriend and Rebecca were wearing was quite cute, of course.
Best Art? For me, Siobhan's Belly Dance demonstration was wonderful--the dancers came from completely different traditions, but all were very skilled, and performed very well, and the dances were all very different, which was nice to see, especially as the explanations mentioned sources and evoked places. The Duchess' ball combined showy good food (after dinner!) with good music and dancing, so that was a wonderful time, especially since I got to drum, which is fun.
So many people to see! I need to go have longer conversations with so many of them.
Things are starting to move. I will fight this year, and enter arts competitions, and have more fun.
Best stuff: The little clay dice.
