I'm happy.
Taught today, mix of English classes.
It makes me happy. Laughing when I walk out of the school, dancing in front of the classes, a show every hour and inquisitive minds asking me questions. "What are you going to be for Halloween, Mr. Schmidt?" "Large." "Are you married, Mr. Schmidt?" "Is that a proposal?"
If only it paid enough to live on...but, I get to do it now.
Coooooooool.

If you like it enough, I bet you could make a decent living at it. For a long time, as I listened to my friends in high tech whine about not being able to purchase property, I watched as my friend from college who teaches elementary school bought one house in Austin and then one in San Jose. Now, he also drives a Lexus. And yes, he's still a school teacher.
So, I bet there's a way to make it work if that's really what you enjoy doing...

My only point was that it is possible. I think it's hard enough to get and keep good teachers. I think J would make a great teacher and if a little encouragement leads to him figuring out how to make it work, everyone (kids, J, the community) wins.
